Change is constant. “Innovation and creativity” are the keys to survival today. The individual as well as the organization is galloping to keep up with the ever increasing pace. Change does not necessarily assure progress, but progress implacably requires change. Education is essential to adapt to the change. Education creates new wants and desires and ability to satisfy them. Once our children get in the habit of learning for themselves, nothing is going to narrow their minds. Our essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another. "You cannot kindle a fire in any other heart until it is burning in your own," said Head Mistress Namita Parthasarthy.

‘Empathetic listening to your child’- Seminar by Mr. Sujit Bhattacharya

Mr. Sujit Bhattacharya adressing parents

How would you feel if some one doesn’t listens to you properly? If you have to repeatedly ask the same question from someone to whom you are talking because he is not paying attention to you?
Mr. Bhattacharya in discussion with parents
An open seminar was on the same was conducted by Indus World School on 26th of May 2012. The speaker for the seminar was Mr. Sujit Bhattacharya, CEO- Indus World Schools who is an IIT/IIM Alumnus himself. This was his first ever interaction session in Pune. The session commenced with the presentation of a case study which depicted how an adult would feel when someone listens to him with half attention, keeps questioning rather than acknowledging, and is sympathetic and not empathetic.
Closure with parents
Similarly, a child feels disturbed when he does not get an empathetic response from his parents. Such actions generate conflict in the child’s personality and create a sense of being “not ok” in the child’s mind. As parents we should be good listeners, empathize with them and try to find the solutions to their issues rather than being dismissive of them. Empathetic listing and actions create a sense of “being ok” in the child which helps the child grow up into a confident person. Mr.Bhattacharya spoke on different ways of empathetic listening and responding to children.
The session was followed by an interaction where the parents discussed various issues related to the children with examples, asked questions, and participated actively in the question and answer session.

Indus World School, has offered students from CBSE and M.P. State Board who have cleared that Class X exams, a scholarship in their Class XI (Science and Commerce) fees ranging from 25% to 100% based on their performance in their respective Board Exams. They had invited students to visit the school with a photocopy of their exam scores.

“Class XI and XII are the key year in the life of a student. Irrespective of whether they take Science or Commerce stream, they can outshine if given consistent right guidance and mentoring. Our professional team which leads Indus World School group of schools have been into grooming students for their careers since the past 17 years and we are confident about students being mentored to their right pathway” said Prof. Aaditya Lohana, Director, Indus World School who is a Chartered Accountant and also holds a degree in Law. Deserving students of the commerce stream will be given an opportunity to visit world class institutes such as IIM – Ahmedabad and Bangaluru.

Indus World School has also initiated an integrated program for Engineering Entrance Exams for Class XI (Science) students. A student coming to school is taught the concepts of Class XI by experts in such a way that it would suffice to crack the Engineering Entrance Exams as well.

“A student taking science stream in Class XI usually has to spend maximum number of hours either in school or at a coaching institute or in local conveyance. What is not available is quality time for self study which is very essential for the student to hone himself for his entrance exam preparation. Looking at this scenario the only way out is that every school must be equipped with an integrated program. This will save a good number of hours of the student for his self studies and also help him pursue his favourite sports or other hobbies” said Shri R. Shivakumar, Chairman of the school who himself is an IIT – Chennai and an IIM – Kolkata pass out. Deserving students of the science stream will be given an opportunity to visit world class institutes such as IIT-Mumbai and Institute of Science, Bangaluru.
