Destination Kolar Dam!

With the winter chill just fading out of the skies, it seemed a perfect time to plan a travel. Outbound 2012 to Kolar Dam - an adventure camp organised for the entire staff of IWS, Indore. This was my first opportunity to interact with the extremely buoyant crowd of Indus. The excited and happy faces at the railway station, the frenzy of the train and the bus ride took us all in the middle of a forest area near Bhopal. The dam was an enormous structure in the middle of pristine beauty. The camp was located further up. ‘Junoon adventures’ the tour guides were ready to welcome us all with a package of tough physical activities, great food and a comfortable night in the tents.

Be it the Treasure hunt, the Stick race, the Burma bridge walk or the Trust fall, all of us gave in completely. No matter what, each one shed away his/her inhibitions to be a part of the fun! After every such task it was time to reflect. Reflect on the need for such an exercise, reflect on the thoughts one went over and reflect on what it can do in the class! The kind of bonding I saw amongst everyone, did not alienate me. Each one was ready to share the load, help her partner trek smoothly and take some extra pains for the team. Vow! Within a timeframe everything was possible. The only discipline required was silence! So much could be achieved in a span of 24 hours. That was time management! What we carried back was an experience that can transform a bunch of naughty careless kids into excited, committed and disciplined students. The junoon ought to linger on within us to make each day a special one for the kids!
